After you select your specialization on the left, you can choose one or more research areas of your interest using the buttons. This will arrange the list of research groups such that those that match your choices best are on top. Mind that groups that have an equal match will be displayed in alphabetical order based on the group's name.
Similarly you can also refine you interests on research topic, scientific impact of the research or techniques that are being employed within a research group.
From the list of research groups you can select your favorites (only if you are signed in) which you can take to the next step where you can make your final selection and put them in the order of your liking.
